Labelling Machine

Using a machine to make labelling much easier:
When I had to order another batch of labels I had to use a different supplier as the person I had been using previously for more than 10 years had retired to France. When I was confirming the design I was asked if I wanted the labels on a roll and I could use a hand labelling machine. I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube and thought using a machine would be a big help as I’m quite bad at getting the label straight on the jar.

Looking around the various online sites I could see that the machines were all basically the same but that the prices varied hugely. I took the plunge and ordered one via AliExpress, to my surprise it was delivered to me in the UK the next day which is a record for me ordering something from a Chinese supplier.

The machine came without any detailed instructions but once again reviewing some of the YouTube videos I worked out how to attach all the bits – I only needed to use a couple of Allen keys and it went together very easily. After a quick test I found that I had to adjust the position the holder for the labels and where the jar sat on the rollers to get the label positioned on the jar correctly. Took a few go’s but once setup it doesn’t require any further adjustment.

After the initial set-up the machine is really easy to use with no tinkering required and so far I’ve labelled a few hundred round jars – 454g and 227g. I’m in the process of getting some holders 3d printed so that I can also label hexagon shaped jars as well.

Would I recommend the machine :-
If you use round jars and fill around 25 at a time then I would definitely recommend it. For smaller quantities it’s probably not worth it, especially if you don’t already have your labels on rolls. For hexagon jars it’s not suited and until I get a chance to test out the 3d holders I’m planning on getting I can’t say if it will be any use. I still need to apply the tamper proof labels I use by hand but it’s easy to do. I haven’t timed myself but I can probably label 5-6 jars a minute.
